Greetings from Canada, We (2 of us) and our standard poodle are looking for a cottage, beach house or condo for the month of Dec. 2003.
Max, the poodle does not bark, chew etc. On the Budhist scale, he missed human barely. We are homeowners and real estate agents from Ottawa and promise to hand the property back to you in better shape than when we got it. Anyone know of properties?

I am going to be staying in a friends condo in Hilton Head this coming weekend (October5-6, 2002) and I was wondering about any places around there that offer massages, really any type of spa treatment at a reasonable price. Please email me back as soon as possible and let me know of any in the area and maybe a phone number. Thank you so much. October 1, 2002

Dear Sir or Madam, I am a second year student of the New England Culinary Institute at H.L.Stoutt Community College. Part of my requirements to is to complete 700 hours in a restaurant any where around the world. I have done some research and found that it would be very interesting to work in your establishment. If you feel that this proposal might be able to work you may send me and e-mail so as i would know to go ahead and send my cover letter and resume. Christalen Ambrose

We started visiting Hilton Head Island several years ago. We visited Sea Pines, The Dunes, South Forest Beach, South Beach, and Shipyard. Each area had pros and cons. We seemed to enjoy the plantation life by far more than staying at South Forest Beach or one of the other areas that were not a plantation. The landscaping is unbelievable in the plantations an experience one must experience to believe. Our favorite was Shipyard due to the size, location, price, and landscaping. Shipyard does not have villas directly on the ocean. But many are within a few minutes walk to the ocean. There is a 27 hole golf course located in the plantation. The plantation is the smallest plantation on the island meaning very little traffic. The bike paths are shaded, which is wonderful in hot weather in the summer. The Crown Plaza offers dining in the plantation and entertainment on the weekends too. The Crown Plaza has a seafood buffet one must try, call for the details. They change it around and there are different combinations on different evenings. We enjoyed Shipyard so much we purchased a villa at Colonnade Club that we intend to make our home in the future, currently we rent it out and take the tax deductions for a 2nd home. I can understand tourist's fellings relating to not being able to see the plantations, but coming from an owner's view point, we pay thousands of dollars each year to landscape these plantations and to provide security to minimize the amount of traffic in the plantations. Most of the plantations are extremely quite due to this very thing and that is what brings many returning tourist to Hilton Head Island year after year. If you would like to see the plantations I would suggest you stay in a plantation so you will be able to experience it.

From May 25 thru 31, five of my friends and I stayed in a VIP Villa on Sea Pines Planation. I've travelled all over the world to many resorts and such but I've never experienced the perfect serenity of Hilton Head. As we stayed just across the road from Sea Pines Plantation Club, we were in walking distance to the Beach Club, and our friends staying at The Marriott Monarch. Since we drove from the Washington DC Metro area, everything was quite convenient for us. Shop Piggly Wiggly and all the stores at Coligny for a local experience. You must visit The Salty Dog at South Beach, experience the Wing menu at Wild Wing, walk Harbour Town at Night, and select any number of great restaurants for at least one special evening. I played Harbour Town Golf Links and I do recommend the experience. I also recommend Old South, one of the US 100 Best Public Courses, and one that will make you think. Next year, I'm sure I will add several more fave courses to the list. Hilton Head has become my favorite getaway after just one visit. Memorial Day week has now become Survivor: Hilton Head Island! :)

Vacations at Hilton Head now include free internet access at the homes of relatives in the area. As such we can now enter memories of our visits on a real time basis as opposed to waiting several months when time permits in the real world. Given that, today's thought is: Make sure you go with the wife to Bed, Bath and Beyond or she'll buy the wrong paper towel holder and now you're stuck with it. As always, the best part of HHI is just sitting and watching the squirrels and bad drivers.

How much would it cost a family of 4 to go Parasailing in Hilton Head?
-- Blair Lee (onedr1mn4god@hotmail.com) - Monday, June, 24, 2002 at 22:08:34

Another couple and ourselves are going to HHI this July and are staying in a villa for most of the week- but we are going between the Marriott Golf Resort and the Westin for the remaining couple of days we are there. Does anyone have a preference? The Marriott was supposedly just renovated last year and the Westin about 7 years ago. Both look nice but we would like to go to the NICEST of the two. If you have any suggestions, please email me!! Thanks alot!! We can't wait! June 2002

We'll be coming to HHI the week of June 15-22 and would love to meet a young person who is responsible and would like to babysit a few evenings for an adorable 3 year old and 6 year old. Leave us your name, number and or email address and we'll get back to you!

Could you please mail me travel guides or brochures for Hilton Head. We are trying to plan a family vacation this summer. Thank you. Lanelle Davis, P. O. Box 158 Newborn, Georgia 30056

As a local resident of the "lowcountry" find all the comments very interesting and informative. I have a few "off the beaten path" suggestions for restaurants. For a very special eveing try The Sunset Grille. It is on the island's north-end (close to the bridge). This is a place for couples (not kids!!). They have an eclectic and "mostly" reasonable wine selection. It is a small restaurant with seating for only about 40. Try to make it for the sunset - they are awesome. The menu is small but everything is very fresh and Chef Brad works wonders in his tiny kitchen. Try the seafood cake appetizer or the "smoked" seafood platter. Shrimp & grits are yummy. good steak. Be sure to call for a reservation, especially Thursday-Sat. This is a locals place - fills up fast! Also for lunch or breakfast try Signes down on the south end. She makes the best blueberry muffins! Her salads are really good too. Also a good French restaurant is Le Bistro. They serve lunch & dinner. They make a rum cream pie that is sublime! As far as golf goes -the Jones course at Palmetto Dunes is going through a major renovation. Try it out later this year - should be awesome!

We have been to Hilton Head many times and love it. I am looking for a list of private owned oceanfront condos to rent from. Does anyone know where I can get this? I do not want to rent from a rental company. Thanks

Our family has visited HHI for a number of years every July or August. We have always stayed at the Beach and Tennis Resort which has great beach access and is a good combination of economy and activities available. We very much recommend having a family member retired in the area who has a 34 foot sailboat. For the nominal cost of a case of wine, one can get one or more sailing trips in the sound without having to work much. If you are fortunate enough to save the boat from certain damage, you can be rewarded with a cold one and a towel. Our family loves the area and look forward to visiting in 2002.
