On An Island Without Equal
It's a flawless clear-blue day and the beach is alive with activity:
dolphins frolic just off shore, fins flashing in the sunlight. Pelicans
swoop down to deftly fill their bills with the day's catch. Seagulls
glide behind the open arms of a slow moving shrimp boat. People, too,
share this tranquil scene: some swim or sail, others have carefully

dunes and fields of swaying sea oats, it is a year-round sanctuary from
the busy world beyond.
In summer, families gather here to play: to delight in the warmth of
sand and sun, to swim or sail, ride a bike, fly a kite, or tickle their
toes in the shallow waters of a tidal pool. In spring and fall, the
beach is quieter, gentler, unhurried. You can stroll for miles on the
hard-packed sands. And in winter, it's almost yours alone. Stop to
search for a perfect shell or a few minutes of peaceful solitude.
